This summary outlines the results of the 2015 IMPT Priority Issues Identification Exercise, which the IMPT Secretariat undertook in early 2015 in order to identify critical field-wide issues for further research, funding, and other follow-up action. The IMPT Secretariat is now developing an MPT Field Wide Investment Guide to drill down on the specific activities needed to address the priority issues highlighted in this summary.

This technical meeting brought together experts in hormonal contraception (HC) with MPT developers to review relevant contraceptive research and discuss its application to the MPT development pipeline. The meeting discussed expert recommendations for the use of HC in MPT products and appropriate strategies for including HC in MPTs.

The IMPT developed dosage-form specific TPPs focused on defining the necessary attributes and required supporting data for the successful development of impactful MPT products. MPT dosage-form specific TPPs are available for Long Acting Injectables (LAI) and Intravaginal Rings (IVRs).
