MPT Symposium at M2012

Prevention of Multiple Reproductive Health Indications
Chairs:  Alan Stone (MEDSA Ltd/IMPT) and Elizabeth Bukusi (KEMRI)

Session Abstract:  Products that simultaneously prevent two or more of the following: unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, HSV-2, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, HPV, and non-sexually transmitted infections like bacterial vaginosis, will help women to overcome many of the challenges they face in meeting their reproductive and sexual health needs. Such products will offer both providers and end-users enhanced value-for-money and increased convenience, crucial factors in resource-limited settings where they will make a major contribution to the health and welfare of women and their families. A panel comprising world leaders in this field will explore the role and potential impact of multi-indication products in sexual and reproductive health, and the demographics relevant to diverse unmet needs. The panel will also discuss the necessary attributes of high-impact products, the opportunities and challenges inherent in their development, and the pipeline of products in development.
